We've Been Adopted!!

Quizno—Ragged Mountain DogsQuizno—ADOPTED!!

Cute Quizno is now part of Bonnie and Gary's family. Gary writes, "Quizee, as we call him, has been a perfect fit for us and we are sure glad to have him here. He is a good dog and tries to listen and do the right thing. We have found that he will bring mice in the house at night so he can "play" with them; he's actually very gentle with them but I think my wife frowns on this practice. He also loves to chew and we give him plenty of chew toys and chewy treats.
When we got Quizno we had not yet touched him as he was so scared of people and would not let us near him, but as I sat in his pen at Ragged Mountain Dogs something told me that he really wanted to be loved. Now he can't get enough belly scratches and petting."

 timmy—ADOPTED!!Timmy—Ragged Mountain Dogs

Timmy the Cocker Spaniel has been adopted by his foster mom, Mary Lou! After he spent several months in her home, Mary Lou just couldn't bear to part with him

 barney—ADOPTED!!

Barney—Ragged Mountain Dogs

Barney the Beagle has a new family! His new mom, Linda, writes, "We are so happy to welcome Barney as a newcomer to our family.  He is a wonderful addition!!  He's loving and affectionate, is adapting quite well to his new home and routine. He even tries his best to get along with our 3 cats.  I don't think they are what he had in mind for siblings!  We've been cat owners forever and this is our first dog.  It has been a wonderful experience so far and we look forward to many more happy years ahead!! We are really grateful for Lisa Reid and the opportunity she offers for a new life to these wonderful animals at Ragged Mountain Dogs.  Lisa was awesome and quite patient with us as we struggled to make the right choice between [SPCA dog] Bonnie and Barney.  I think we did!!"

 petey—ADOPTED!!Petey—Ragged Mt. Dogs

Petey the Terrier mix has been adopted by Kevin and Kelly. They write, "We love our handsome and whimsical boy. He already has many
nicknames, even after only 3 weeks. Some are 'Peteykins', 'Mr.
Snaggles' (underbite), P-Funk (on those dirty days), and 'Pete-ster'.
Petey is still learning that he can't bury new treats in the carpet
and that he's not allowed on the furniture. He recently discovered he
can jump over the baby gate that kept him in the kitchen while we were
out and we came home to find him curled up in a chair like he owned
the joint. We had to laugh. He is very sweet, loves to give kisses,
and knows to nudge Kevin's arm in the morning when his alarm goes off
so they can head out for their morning walk. We thank RMD for helping
us find Petey."

 matty—ADOPTED!!

Matty—Ragged Mt. DogsMatty, our Katrina dog, is now one of Kevin and Becky's family. Matty also has a new brother, ReRun. Because of her ears, Lisa Reid and trainer Tony Orange called her Baby Bat Girl when she first came to Virginia, and Kevin and Becky now call her Baby.

 annabelle—ADOPTED!!

Annabelle—Ragged Mt. DogsBeautiful Annabelle has been adopted by Caryl and Peter. Caryl says, "Our baby girl, Annabelle, is adjusting well. She is learning new tricks and no longer needs to sleep in the crate! Annabelle and Nola (our rescue kitten from New Orleans) are starting to get used to each other. Nola likes to pounce on Annabelle's tail, and Annabelle thinks that the chasing part is a game.
Yes, the girls are starting to get along...as long as there is no food involved. I'm still not sure who is the boss, but I'd say it is Nola. And now that they play together, we sleep at night!!!
Annabelle can't get any sweeter. We truly love her, and I think she loves us. She gets confused on which toy to play with, and runs between all of them. She plays catch by herself! If only she'd stop stealing our socks!!!"

 alfie—ADOPTED!!

Puppy Alfie (now Otis) has joined Ed and Kim's family! Kim writes, "He was named Otis because he reminded us of the old scruffy guy on the Andy Griffith Show. Otis just seemed to fit. Otis joins our large family including Louie, a Jack Russell Terrier; Lucky, a Lab; and Maggie a St. Bernard/Golden Retriever Mix. Otis has adapted quite well and loves to play with Maggie and Louie in the yard. His favorite pastime is chewing mulch chunks, trying to get up the slide, and stealing my garden shovel while I am not looking.  He loves his ears scratched and enjoys giving everyone kisses. I think he likes his new home very much!"

Bubba—Ragged Mt. Dogs bubba—ADOPTED!!

Bubba the Pug is the newest member of Lindsay's family!

Sassy—Ragged Mt. Dogs sassy—ADOPTED!!

Cute little Sassy the Terrier Mix has been adopted by Finney and Stephanie. Her mom writes that Sassy, "loves the pampering, her walks, and the back yard to continually explore.  Sassy is very happy and energetic.  She has become part of our family quickly.  So far her nicknames have expanded to include "Sassafras,"  "Sass,"  "Sassy-girl," and "Sassy Pants."  She races in circles like a house of fire outside, and often takes leaps through the ivy like a gazelle.  She sure can jump!  She has taught us to play catch with a ball, and lets us know when it's time to play.  Sassy also patiently relaxes with us during leisurely afternoons and evenings.  Sassy seems to have been well trained, to sit, stop, stand and other simple commands. Thanks for allowing Finney, our son John, and I to share the love and joy that Sassy so readily gives."

 lilly—ADOPTED!!

Beautiful Lilly, renamed Maggie, is now part of Kathy's family.  "Big sister" Lacey, a Cocker Spaniel mix, died recently, but Maggie loves hanging out with her two golden retriever neighbors, Cody and Abby. Maggie is also looking forward to meeting her new housemate, Thelma, a very overweight Corgi from Pennsylvania who is joining the family this summer.  Maggie and Kathy are planning to whip Thelma into shape by talking long walks in the evenings and playing with Cody and Abby as often as possible.

Reba—Ragged Mt. Dogs

 reba—ADOPTED!!

Reba was adopted by Tania and Blaine. They are keeping her name to honor her country roots! Tania says, "Reba is a sweet girl. She is very friendly with both people and animals and is always eager to say hello to new dogs that she meets during her walks. Her favorite pastime is playing with her furry bunny...she just loves furry toys and things. She loves to get her belly rubbed and enjoys all kinds of food. In fact, we think her favorite food is: ALL FOOD. Reba is a very active dog and loves running, jumping and rolling. She will start taking dog obedience classes with her people in March."

 lacey—ADOPTED!!

Little Lacey the Poodle was adopted by Stefanie and her family. She has been renamed Lily, and now has two canine sisters and a feline brother that she loves to cuddle with. Lily is the smallest of the three dogs, and relishes her role as lap dog! She especially likes sitting on her mom's lap when she's at the computer and resting her head on the keyboard, which results in a lot of strangely spelled words!

Bonnie—Ragged Mt. Dogs

 bonnie—ADOPTED!!

Bonnie the Lab mix has joined Anne and Ross' family! Bonnie was adopted along with Lily from the SPCA NoVA. Anne reports that Bonnie and Lily love to walk the trails near their home and along the C&O Canal, and hike in Shenandoah National Park. They've met chipmunks, deer, and turtles; the deer sightings test Anne's upper body strength! They do have their down time, though.  Anne writes, "Both dogs have decided that watching movies on the couch with us is pretty nice. It's pretty cute.  Both dogs stretch out.  Lily puts her head on Bonnie's back and Bonnie puts her head on my lap."

 mindy—ADOPTED!!

Mindy the Poodle mix is the newest member of Elizabeth and David's family; joining human sister Victoria. Elizabeth writes, "When we got Mindy, she had no idea how to work steps; now she runs up and down like she's done it all of her life. She love to play outside.  Mindy patrols the backyard, and likes to hang out in Mom's office, and she loves chew toys. She has been a fantastic addition to our family!"

Abby has two human siblings, Harrison and Erica, and a new best dog friend, Cassie.

BEAU–ADOPTED!

Beau is a beautiful Border Collie. He came to RMD with Abby from a rural shelter. Beau was adopted by Tiffany and now has a Border Collie sister (Georgia) and a feline brother (Pierre). His favorite pastimes are snuggling with mom, wrestling with Georgia, and gnawing on stinky cow hooves. And now Beau has a page on Dogster.com!

BELLA–ADOPTED!

Bella is a Terrier mix,  rescued from the same rural shelter as Beau and Abby. Bella was adopted by Joanne, who writes that she is well behaved and smart. Joanne decided that her sweet Bella needed a fenced-in yard, so she bought a townhouse for her! Bella loves to walk, and has explored every walkway in the complex where they live.

JETTA–ADOPTED!

Jetta, a Lab/Hound mix, was the first Ragged Mountain Dog to be adopted. Renamed Mia, she is now part of the Hall family. Her dad writes, "We just love Mia more than I can describe. She's the best thing that could've happened to us after we lost our other dogs after 17 and 19 years. We are so thankful you saved her so she could be with us. I just can't imagine her not being around. She is the most loving and kind dog we could have imagined and our kids love her too."
