Here are the dogs we currently have available for adoption. All Ragged Mountain Dogs will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption, up to date on vaccinations and microchipped for identification. Adopters also receive one month of ShelterCare pet insurance free of charge. Prior to adoption, our dogs get crate training and learn basic commands, which makes the transition into your home much smoother. We encourage our adopters to continue with obedience training. If you are interested in adopting one of our dogs, please read our adoption guidelines, then contact us via email by clicking here. PLEASE NOTE:
Because we do pre-placement home visits, we have a limited adoption area,
generally Northern Virginia. If you are interested in one of our dogs, though,
please email or call to see if a volunteer is available to do a home visit in
your area. |

Amaya is a beautiful Sheltie/Husky mix, about 3 yrs old. She is the mother of Bonnie (ADOPTED!!). Amaya weighs about 40 lbs, and is very friendly and gentle, does well with other dogs, and is good with children, too. Amaya would be a perfect dog for a family.*Become a K9 Angel to Amaya! ginger Ginger is a 4 year old AmStaff rescued from neglect. While she is wonderful with people, she does not get along with other dogs. Ginger has been in rescue for too long, a victim of the prejudice against her breed. She has a wonderful personality, is smart and attentive, eager to please, and even housebroken. She's also obedience trained, thanks to Ragged Mountain Dogs' trainer Tony Orange. Ginger is a favorite of the volunteers, who love to watch her whole body wiggle when she wags her tail! She needs an all-adult household, and must be the only animal. Could you give her a chance to show you her real personality? *Become a K9 Angel to Ginger! Click here for details.*

scout Scout is a Schipperke mix, about 2 years old and 16
lbs. Scout and Sassy
(ADOPTED!!) were adopted by an older gentleman who found that
he didn't have the energy needed to keep up with two young, active
dogs. Scout is friendly and sweet toward people, but he wouldn't be the right dog for young children. He is also very
particular about his canine friends. An all-adult home with a fenced back yard for exercise would be
ideal for Scout.
